Alexandra Kosteniuk (born April, 23, 1984)

is a chess Grandmaster and the 12th Women’s World Chess Champion. She began playing chess at the age of five, and by 14 she had become the youngest Woman Grandmaster in the world at that time. At 17, Alexandra reached the final of the Women’s World Chess Championship in 2001, finishing as runner-up after a close tie-break battle. Throughout her career she has been among the leading figures in women’s chess, winning numerous titles and representing her national teams with outstanding results. After more than two decades representing Russia, Alexandra switched to the Swiss Chess Federation in March 2023.
