The trip was intensely followed by the press and was shown Live country-wide on TV. Have a look at Alexandra's blog post, and the YouTube video of Game 3. Alexandra was a guest of honor at the Title I District Chess Championship in Miami yesterday. On the photo you see her with Program Director Elizabeth Tejada and Superintendent of schools Alberto Carvalho (who oversees the 4th largest school district in the USA). The Program and tournament (844 kids playing) is a great success and it's nice to see such great support for chess in schools. Chess is great to promote products. It was a smart BUSINESS decision by JGB to invest in CHESS to promote their product Tarrito Rojo. The Queen of Chess, Alexandra Kosteniuk shares with you her impressions from her Promotion trip in Colombia, including her goodwill visits to foundations such as the "Pies Descalsos" of singer Shakira, just outside of Bogotį, and much more. Read the exclusive post on CHESSBLOG. We have nice photo albums: Tarrito Rojo Chess Talent, Fashion in Bogotį, and Tourism in Medellin. It was probably the biggest combined chess & product promotion of the year: The Colombian company JGB, maker of the vitamin supplement "Tarrito Rojo" put much of their yearly advertising budget into inviting Women's World Chess Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk and promoting chess to Colombian youth. The result was a massive chess tournament "Tarrito Rojo Chess Talent" in Bogotį and in Medellin, with many simuls, prizes, donations to charities. Alexandra traveled on her birthday from Miami to Indialantic, Florida, so she could give a 46-board simul during the Space Coast Chess Festival, in Indialantic, Florida. It went very well, and the final result was +42 =3 -1. Congratulations to Wayne Strickland for his win, as well as to Dr. Axel Stock of UCF, John Ludwig, and Eric Perlman for their draws.
