We have just received the news that the Reigning Women's World Chess Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk has been named Official Ambassador for the bid for the Chess Olympiads in Tromsø 2014, alongside Magnus Carlsen, current World #1 according to FIDE rating. Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk just came back from a chess & tourism promotion trip to one of the 7 Wonders of the world: the Machu Picchu, Peru. The trip was intensely followed by the press and was shown Live country-wide on TV. Have a look at Alexandra's blog post, and the YouTube video of Game 3. Alexandra also climbed to the top of the Waynapicchu, a climb reserved to few people, and was the first person to reach the top on May 24.

Alexandra was a guest of honor at the Title I District Chess Championship in Miami yesterday. On the photo you see her with Program Director Elizabeth Tejada and Superintendent of schools Alberto Carvalho (who oversees the 4th largest school district in the USA). It was probably the biggest combined chess & product promotion of the year: The Colombian company JGB, maker of the vitamin supplement "Tarrito Rojo" put much of their yearly advertising budget into inviting Women's World Chess Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk and promoting chess to Colombian youth. The result was a massive chess tournament "Tarrito Rojo Chess Talent" in Bogotá and in Medellin, with many simuls, prizes, donations to charities. See the full photo album on ChessPics.

Alexandra traveled on her birthday from Miami to Indialantic, Florida, so she could give a 46-board simul during the Space Coast Chess Festival, in Indialantic, Florida. It went very well, and the final result was +42 =3 -1. Congratulations to Wayne Strickland for his win, as well as to Dr. Axel Stock of UCF, John Ludwig, and Eric Perlman for their draws. 21.04.2010 Champion for Peace Alexandra Kosteniuk inaugurated today the Chess for Peace (Ajedrez por la Paz) Center in Puerto Tejada, Colombia. This project, sponsored by FIDE, Peace and Sport, and the organization Colombianitos, is a chance for underprivileged kids to learn chess and benefit from the skills it teaches. Today was Alexandra's first book signing for her newly released book "Diary of a Chess Queen", in Coral Gable's Books & Books. As the last book signing, it was a lively question and answer and most attendees left with an autographed copy of Alexandra's book.

Yesterday was Alexandra's first book signing for her newly released book "Diary of a Chess Queen", in the beautiful bookstore Barnes & Noble of Aventura, Florida. Lots of people came to her talk and signing session, the questions and answers kept everyone interested and tuned in to chess 100%.
