Bien qu'Alexandra ait gagné ses 38 parties, chaque enfant à reçu des cadeaux (casquettes, stylos, photos avec autographe), et les meilleurs joueurs ont reçu l'ordinateur d'échecs "Alexandra The Great" et 6 merveilleuses montres Balmain! 09.06.2004 Alexandra est à Elista (Kalmykie, Russie) et participe aux Champioannats du monde féminin 2004. Les 64 femmes les plus fortes du monde participent, et ce sera un championnat des plus intéressants. Le système est à élimination, avec le nombre de joueurs allant de 64-32-16-8-4-2-gagnant. Vous vous souvenez qu'en décembre 2001 Alexandra est allée jusqu'en finale, et qu'elle a reçu le titre de vice-championne du monde à ce moment-là. La première ronde sera contre Maria Sergeeva (Kazakhstan).
09.06.2004 Alexandra a gagné ses deux parties contre Sergeeva dans la première ronde du Championnat du Monde 2004 (Elista, Kalmykie, Russie), et donc s'est qualifiée pour la deuxième ronde. Elle a affronté V. Cmilyte, mais en perdant la première et annulant la deuxième, elle ne s'est pas qualifié pour la 3ème ronde. 09.06.2004 Avant de repartir d'Elista, Alexandra a visité l'école de Iki-Chonos, près d'Elista, Kalmykie, Russie. Elle a donné une simultanée de Bienfaisance aux enfants, ensuite un discours sur les avantages que donne le jeu d'echecs. Alexandra avait déjà été à cette même école il y a 3 ans, quand elle a donné 2 ordinateurs (PC) avec un programme d'instruction d'échecs, très utile pour l'école. Les enfants étaient heureux de recevoir les casquettes, et les fameuses cartes "Puzzle", avec autographes, qui sont collectionnées avec avidité. Nous avons pris beaucoup de photos ce jour-là et vous pouvez les voir en cliquant ici. Alexandra a participé à la Conférence de Presse, ensuite elle a donné une simultanée à un groupe de 19 jeunes Candidats Maîtres , avec un résultat de +14, =4, -1. 11.05.2004 Alexandra continue d'être en grande forme, et le dernier weekend (1-3 mai), à Birmingham West Bromwich (Angleterre), dans la 1ère division du 4NCL Alexandra a réalisé 2.5 sur 3, annulant contre le GM Speelman (2569), et battant le GM Wells (2507), et le MI Kelly (2499). Les parties d'Alexandra's sont comme toujours très intéressants, regardez surtout les gains contre ses adversaires mâles expérimentés, ainsi que sa partie contre GM Speelman. 05.05.2004 Alexandra a passé 3 jours de vacances dans la merveilleuse ville de Venise (Italie), juste après son 20ème anniversaire. Comme promis, nous avons des photos de l'anniversaire d'Alexandra, ainsi que de son voyage à Venise. Il faisait très beau à Venise, ni trop chaud, ni trop froid, et moins de touristes qu'en été. Alexandra ira en Angleterre les 1-2-3 mai, pour jouer dans la Première division avec l'équipe Numerica 3Cs (4NCL).
23.04.2004 Today April 23 is Alexandra's 20th birthday!!! It's amazing how many accomplishments Alexandra has obtained in such a short period of time, congratulations!! 03.04.2004 ALEXANDRA IS EUROPEAN CHAMPION!!! After tying for first with Peng with 9.5 out of 12 (8 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss) at the very tough European Championships in Dresden (Germany), she won the champion's tie-break today and became 2004 European Champion! This is the most prestigious chess title after World Champion and we are very glad Alexandra got it! We have many photos for you, as well as all of Alexandra's games (view in an applet or download pgn).
03.04.2004 ALEXANDRA RECEIVED A CERTIFICATE OF TITLE RESULT - GRANDMASTER (MEN)!!! For her exceptional performance while winning the European Championship with 9.5 out of 12, against 12 titled opponents, which corresponds to a stunning performance of 2625 (!), Alexandra was awarded the highest title, GrandMaster (GM), a men's title. This is in addition to the IM (International Master, men) title she already has, as well as the WGM (Woman GrandMaster) title Alexandra received at the age of 14. This title still has to be approved by the FIDE, in due time. You can see the original certificate here. This is a wonderful birthday present for Alexandra who is going to celebrate her 20th birthday in less than 3 weeks.
24.03.2004 Alexandra just got back from Moscow a few days ago, where she did a very nice 6.5 out of 9 in the semi-finals of the Moscow Championships (Men), winning about 7 ELO points and qualifying for the Final of the Moscow Championships (Men). She won't be able to play in the Moscow finals, because she is playing the European Women's Championships in Dresden (Germany), which will last until April 4. She has now 3 points out of 4. 07.03.2004 Using new patented technology developed by her father Konstantin, Alexandra is starting a chess game against the world! You can participate by sending your move either by SMS on your GSM mobile phone or on the Internet. The current position will continuously be on the site www.chessmegamatch.com. Your first move (you play white) should be sent before March 11, 10 AM Moscow time. There will be 3 moves per week, each move for the world will be the most frequently proposed one for that move, and the participants (identified with a unique mobile phone number) who sent the selected move are given one point. At the end of the game, regardless of the result, the participant who has the most points (i.e. is moves have coincided the most with the world) wins a visa Gold card and $5,000! Participation is free! Send your move now!

07.02.2004 Alexandra took some time off today before her chess lesson to walk on the beach, pose for a few photos next to a giant chess queen, and visit an animal parc where she found a superb iguana. 18.01.2004 During her cross-USA trip, Alexandra passed by the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show and visited Excalibur Electronics' booth. Excalibur is the manufacturer of the chess computer "Alexandra the Great" (named after Alexandra, of course), and Alexandra was showing everybody how to use it. It's a talking chess computer with 136 levels, and fun to play with. Look at our photos by clicking here!
